Conner Leads UNG Rifle To Runner-Up Finish
DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia mixed rifle team posted a second place finish out of three teams on Monday afternoon in a match with UT-Martin at the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Shooting Range on the Dahlonega campus.
UNG totaled a score of 2,296 in the air rifle competition and finished 32 points behind the mixed team from UT-Martin and four points clear of UT-M's women's team. The 2,296 air rifle score set a new school record bettering the previous mark by 12 points.
Ruthanne Conner recorded another strong performance for the Nighthawks with a individual score of 583 setting a new personal record for the freshman.
Jessica Cobb and Dacotah Faught of UT-M shared top individual honors with a matching score of 583 finishing just two points clear of Connor.
UNG's Casadie Bragg finished fifth after registering a 581 while teammate Kyle Bailey narrowly missed a top-10 finish with a 569 which was good for 11th place out of 27 shooters.
Sara Howell (567) and Chris Tam (563) finished 13th and 14th respectively for the North Georgia.
UNG returns to action on October 19-20 when the team travels to Charleston, S.C. to take part in a SEARC event at The Citadel.
