UNG Mixed Rifle Team Wins SEARC Event With School Record Air Rifle Score
DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia rifle team recorded a team victory at the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference event held in the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range on the Dahlonega campus. UNG took four of the top five places individually in the air rifle competition and broke the school record with a team score of 2,304.
The Nighthawks finished ahead of Wofford College in the NCAA portion of the event while bettering the Terriers, Clemson and Georgia Military in the SEARC competition. UNG won the SEARC portion by 87 points over Wofford and was 80 points clear of the Terriers in the NCAA competition.
Ruthanne Conner shot a personal record of 587 to finish first overall. Teammate Casadie Bragg was the runner up with a score of 582 while Kyle Bailey (572, 4th) and Sara Howell (570, 5th) each posted top-five finishes out of 23 competitors.
The UNG mixed rifle team returns to action on February 8 with a SEARC event at Georgia Military College.
