North Georgia Mixed Rifle Team Posts Runner-Up Finish At SEARC Sectional
CHARLESTON, South Carolina – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia mixed rifle team earned a runner-up finish at the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference sectional event held at The Citadel at the Inouye Marksmanship Center. UNG tallied 4,531 points in the NCAA portion of the competition marking a new school record for the aggregate combination of air rifle and smallbore.
The Nighthawks' score of 4531 finished second in the NCAA results behind North Carolina State's 4,606 but 80 points clear of third-place Citadel (4,452).
NCSU also won the SEARC event bettering North Georgia's score of 2,293 by 31 points.
Casadie Bragg finished 4th overall in smallbore with a score of 570 while teammate Ruthanne Conner finished 7th after posting a 564.
Bragg also recorded a team-best 3rd place finish out of 56 competitors in the air rifle competition with a score of 581.
The team also returns to Dahlonega with three personal best scores as Sara Howell (575, air rifle), Rachel Hamilton (560, air rifle) and Chris Tam (558, smallbore) all collected new personal marks.
North Georgia will cap the season with a return trip to Charleston on March 8 to take place in the SEARC Championship.
