North Georgia to play first Regional Tournament game this afternoon
PEMBROKE, NC - North Georgia College & State University's Courtney McGuire and Laura Voyles were named to the 2008 Daktronics All-South Atlantic Region Team announced this morning before the first game of the NCAA South Atlantic Regional at LRA Field on the Campus of UNC Pembroke. The Teams were nominated and voted upon by the region's sports information directors.
McGuire was named to first-team all region after playing and starting every game for the Saints in 2008. She recorded a .364 batting average and was second on the club in home runs with seven and runs batted in with 29. McGuire had 48 hits on the season, including a team-leading 17 doubles.
Voyles was named second-team all-region after a sophomore campaign that saw her hit .432, score 35 runs, and record a team high 60 hits. She started every game for the Saints in 2008 and launched six home runs while driving in 25 runs.
After being named first team all-region, Courtney McGuire will go on the Daktronics All-American Ballot, with the All-American announcement coming May 16.
