DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia softball
team will host its fourth annual Cancer Awareness Day, as the
Saints take on Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference
doubleheader Wednesday evening with first pitch set for 5:00 p.m.
at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.
Come out and support the 3rd-ranked Saints as they “Help
Save Second Base” in their final regular season home games of
the 2009 season. The team will honor those who taught us to fight
and recognize those who continue the fight against cancer.
North Georgia College & State University Vice President for
Student Affairs, Dr. John Clower, and family members, are scheduled
to throw out the honorary first pitch at approximately 4:45
p.m.
The softball program would also like to invite anyone currently
fighting cancer to participate in a brief on-field ceremony between
games.
2009 Cancer Awareness t-shirts and PINK Crocs will be available at
the stadium for a $10.00 donation to the Susan G. Komen for the
Cure Foundation. All proceeds will go to cancer research and
finding a cure.
In this all-important PBC doubleheader, North Georgia enters the
double dip at 33-3 overall and 11-1 in the Peach Belt Conference,
while the Bearcats of Lander University come to town with a record
of 13-23 overall and 2-9 in the league. Following the doubleheader,
the Saints will recognize the senior class of 2009, as Kaelin
Farrington plays her final season in a North Georgia uniform.
All Proceeds from Cancer Awareness Day 2009 will go to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure
Foundation.
