DAHLONEGA, GA
– Top-ranked North Georgia and 9th-ranked Alabama-Huntsville
might not be meant to play at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium
this season as head coach Mike Davenport announced for the second
time this spring that the doubleheader has been postponed due to
inclement weather on the horizon.
The Saints and Chargers were originally scheduled to clash on March
10, which would have been a battle of the top two teams in the
land, but heavy thunderstorms forced the doubleheader to be
rescheduled for March 21, only to have the double dip washed away
once again.
The two teams are still scheduled to play on Tuesday, March 20, on
the campus of Alabama-Huntsville, but a makeup date for
Sunday’s washout, if rescheduled, will be will announced at a
later date.
On Saturday, the Saints will welcome in-state rival and 10th-ranked
Augusta State to town for an early showdown in what could decide
the 2010 Peach Belt Conference regular season champion. The Jaguars
are 22-6 overall on the season with a perfect 8-0 mark in the
league.
ASU is up two spots in the latest poll to round out the top 10 and
is only other PBC school in ranking. First pitch of a doubleheader
against the Jaguars is slated for 2:00 p.m., immediately followed
the dedication for Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium set to start
at 1:45 p.m.
