Softball Set to Depart for World Series Tuesday Morning


DAHLONEGA, GA – On the heels of capturing a third straight Southeast Super Regional Championship, the North Georgia softball team is preparing to depart campus on Tuesday morning for the NCAA Division II College World Series.

The Saints, ranked No. 2 in the country, will depart the campus of North Georgia College & State University in front of Memorial Hall at approximately 9:00 a.m. en route to Salem, Virginia.

Parents, fans, alumni, faculty and staff, and the community are encouraged to "sendoff" the Saints to their third straight NCAA National Championship appearance.

Members of the media are also welcome to attend the departure, as players and coaches will be made available for interviews starting at 8:20 Tuesday morning. Please contact Assistant AD for Sports Communications David Beall for more information.

North Georgia will take on 11th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) on Thursday evening in the opening round of the World Series at the Moyer Sports Complex. First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m.

The Saints advanced to the NCAA National Championships by defeating 6th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne over the weekend in the Southeast Super Regional. North Georgia dropped the opener 9-7 on Friday evening, but battling back on Saturday to pick up two straight wins and shock the Bears 9-7 in game two and 10-2 in six innings in game three. Along the way, the Saints set a school record for wins in a season with 52.
