KISSIMMEE, FL – The Saints fell to West Texas A&M 5-4 in 10 innings, as North Georgia failed to take advantage of great innings from Jessica Coan.
West Texas A&M (9-1) would answer with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the 5th inning. The Lady Buffs smacked three hits and used three walks to do the damage.
Sarah Johnson would connect on a two-run RBI, after Rochelle Shuman scored on an errant throw by the Lady Buffs catcher. Johnson hit it a bouncer through the left side that allowed Callie Fernandez and Katie Block to come in score, tying the game at four.
In the extra inning frames (8-10) the Saints would go 0-9 at the plate, stranding runners at second and third base repeatedly.
Shuman and Minger each had multi-hit games, while Johnson led the way with two RBI.
Dickie threw 4.1 innings allowing three earned runs and walked three batters, while surrendering just two hits.
Krysten Connelly came in and gave up just one hit after Dickie was hit by a line drive off her foot. Connelly recorded two outs before Coan would come in in the 6th inning.
The game-winning run came in to score in the 10th inning when West Texas A&M finally sealed the deal with a base hit back up the middle.
A rematch of the 10-inning thriller will take place tomorrow morning, when North Georgia and the Lady Buffs will meet again on ESPN3 at 10:00 AM.
