DAHLONEGA, GA – The Saints softball team is set to host their sixth annual Cancer Awareness Day this Saturday afternoon as they take on Augusta State in doubleheader action.

The theme for this year's event will be Strikeout Cancer. The weekend is designed to honor those that taught us to fight and for those who continue to fight and battle against the deadly disease of cancer.

The games begin this weekend at 12:00 noon. The second game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

As always, the school and team will be taking donations throughout the weekend, which will go towards the Susan G. Komen Foundation to find a cure for cancer.

Campus Connection will also be selling pink "NG softball" t-shirts on Saturday. The shirts will cost $10 with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Following game one of the doubleheader, people will be asked to come onto the field to honor those they love who have or continue to battle cancer. Those individuals will be able to tell whom they are supporting and to whom they are standing to honor.

There will be players from both teams participating in the emotional event, with some of them catching pitches from special guests.

All those who attend are encouraged to wear pink, in honor of those who have suffered from this disease.

The No. 13-ranked North Georgia softball team will be wearing their pink uniforms as usual to show their support.

In last year's event, the Saints swept Georgia College, in what was another huge success to show support.

Strikeout Cancer 2012 will recognize those who continue to fight  and battle against cancer.
