AUGUSTA, GA – Following the most dominating week of her young career, freshman standout Melissa Dickie was honored from the league office as the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week announced on Monday afternoon.
The freshman from Buford, Ga., is the second player this season from North Georgia to earn the Pitcher of the Week honor, as Jessica Coan snagged the award during each of the first two weeks of the season. Tiffanie Burns was also honored by the PBC in March as the league's Freshman of the Week.
Dickie dominated her PBC competition last week, going a perfect 5-0 while boosting her perfect record to 16-0 for her freshman season.
She allowed just one earned run in six appearances, finishing the week with a 0.21 earned run average. She allowed four hits or less in four of her six outings.
She threw two complete game shutouts, while striking out 24 batters. She also picked up a save along the way.
Dickie ranks third in the conference with her team low 1.19 earned run average and his tied for fifth in the league with 16 wins. She had one of the most impressive weeks for a freshman in Peach Belt Conference history.
