Softball Holds Steady at No. 11 in the Country in Latest NFCA Top 25 Poll

DAHLONEGA, GA – After going 4-1 this past week and earning Peach Belt Conference Tournament Runner-up honors, the North Georgia Saints softball team held onto the No. 11-ranking in the latest NFCA Top 25 poll.

North Georgia swept Francis Marion 4-1 and 9-4 on Thursday, before heading down to Columbus for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. 

The Saints beat Georgia College 7-6 on Saturday morning in comeback style.  Tiffanie Burns hit a three-run home run to knot the game at six a piece and won on a Katherine Martin walk-off walk. 

On Sunday, the Saints beat USC Aiken 9-0 to earn a place in their fith consecutive PBC Tournament Championship against Columbus State, which the Saints ultimately lost 4-1.

Valdosta State remained No. 1 receiving all 16 first-place votes, while Kutztown, Central Oklahoma, Indianapolis, and Tampa rounded out the top five.

Armstrong dropped to No. 8 after their loss to Columbus State in the PBC semifinals, while Columbus State received votes and landed just outside the top 25 this week.

The Saints will now wait on the NCAA selection committee to see where they land in the NCAA tournament, which begins next weekend.
