DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia softball team will host their fourth consecutive NCAA Super Regional this coming weekend, as they welcome Flagler College into Dahlonega for a trip to the 2012 College World Series.
The top-seeded Saints (48-8) went 3-0 over the past weekend, taking down King College, Columbus State and Augusta State to punch their ticket to another Super Regional.
They will play host to Flagler (37-17), who was the No. 7-seed in the Armstrong Regional went 3-0 taking down the host Pirates and the No. 3-seed Lenoir-Rhyne twice.
The NCAA Super Regional will feature a best-of-three format, with one game on Friday evening and one or two on Saturday. All games will be played at Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium.
The first game is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Friday evening, with the games on Saturday scheduled for 2:00 and 4:30 PM.
North Georgia will be the home team on Friday, with Flagler being the home team in game two. The two teams will flip a coin to decide home and away if a game three is necessary.
These two teams are mirror images of one another, both boasting dominating pitching and struggling offenses. This best of three series should be a close one, another Peach Belt thriller.
The Saints split with Flagler back on March 13, down in St. Augustine, Florida. North Georgia took game one 6-2 with Jessica Coan picking up the win, while Flagler took game two 7-0 on a masterful performance by Donna Munafo.
The winner will clinch a spot in the 2012 NCAA Division II College World Series to be played in Louisville, Kentucky, May 16-19 at Knights Field.
Tickets will be $6 per session for adults and $4 for students. Children under the age of 3 will be admitted for free.
