Lady Saints fall 80-71 at UNCP in overtime

North Georgia moves to .500 in PBC play

PEMBROKE, NC - North Georgia College & State rallied late to force overtime, but fell 80-71 at UNC Pembroke Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action.

Natalie Ray gave UNCP a 56-49 lead with 5:33 left in regulation, but North Georgia answered with an 11-2 run to take its fourth lead of the game, 60-58, on Marble's free throws more than four minutes later. Ray turned the ball over on a charging call moments later, but the hosts got the ball back with 50 seconds left on a shot clock violation by the Lady Saints.

After warding off a desperation 3-pointer with two seconds remaining in regulation, UNCP took charge in overtime, scoring the first six points of the extra time and running away with a nine-point 80-71 victory.

Syretha Marble scored 17 points and grabbed as many rebounds to lead a trio of North Georgia (15-8, 8-8) players with double-figure point totals. Brooke Baker came off the bench to register 13 points, with teammate Kourtney Singleton totaling 11 points of her own.

North Georgia (15-8, 8-8 PBC) will be back in action on Monday, February 18, hosting in-state and PBC rival Georgia Southwestern at 5:30 p.m.
