SAVANNAH, GA – North Georgia led by four
points at intermission before exploding in the second half for a
62-46 victory over Armstrong Atlantic State University Monday
evening in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Lady Saints picked up their second straight victory and improve
to 5-10 overall and 2-6 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the
Lady Pirates fall to 10-4 overall and 5-2 in the league.
North Georgia led from wire-to-wire, seeing their lead shrink to
three points on two different occasions but answering each time
with runs to put Armstrong Atlantic away.
The Lady Saints out rebounded AASU 46-33 and shot 41.2 percent from
the field, while the Lady Pirates managed just 22.4 percent from
the field and 11.8 percent from behind the arc. North Georgia
overcame 32 turnovers to pick up just their second road victory in
the last two seasons.
Syretha Marble shined once again for North Georgia, dropping 18
points and pulling down 10 rebounds for another double-double.
Meredith Montgomery added 12 points and eight rebounds in 28
minutes of action.
Portia Jones led a pair of Armstrong Atlantic players in double
figures with 11 points, while Dartayvia Thomas chipped in 10 points
and four steals.
North Georgia returns to action on Wednesday evening, traveling to
Clayton State to take on the 17th-ranked Lakers at 5:30 p.m.
