Marble Named First-Team PBC All-Academic

AUGUSTA, GA – Syretha Marble has been named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team announced by the conference office. The senior receives the honor after being named PBC All-Conference for four straight seasons.

The team is part of a new season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the court.

Syretha Marble, a 2008 All-American, and 2009 First-Team All-conference and All-Region Selection averaged 18.4 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game this season to rank second and fourth respectively in the Peach Belt Conference. The senior scored in double digits in all but one game, and recorded a season-high 32 points against Mars Hill on November 24, and a season-high 20 rebounds at Georgia College & State University on February 4.

Marble was a four-time PBC All-Conference player during her career and was named PBC Freshman of the year in 2006 and an All-American in 2008. Marble ranks 5th in the history of the PBC with 1,881 points, and 6th in rebounds with 926.

She recorded nine double-doubles this season, and led the conference in minutes played at 37.52 minutes per game. Marble finished fourth in steals at 2.96 steals per game, and third in field goal percentage at 54.4 percent.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student athlete must participate in at least half of their team’s events, achieve a 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and have completed at least one full academic year at their current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors nominated and voted on the selected teams.
