Lady Saints Drop 76-64 Road Contest at LMU
Harrogate, TN – North Georgia led by as
many as nine points in the first half, but fell 76-64 to the
Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University Tuesday evening in
non-conference action.
The Lady Saints went out to an early lead, going up 15-6 with 11:34
to go in the first half off a jumper from Meredith
Montgomery. The Lady Railsplitters came right back however,
putting together a 16-2 run late in the first period to grab the
41-34 lead at the half.
LMU built a 17-point lead in the second half as the game appeared
to be out of reach, but the Lady Saints mounted a comeback and cut
the lead to just three at 65-62 with 4:28 remaining. The
Railsplitters were clutch down the stretch, sinking nine of ten
free throws in the final minutes to put the game away and hand the
Lady Saints their second consecutive loss.
North Georgia (3-3) was led by Meredith Montgomery with 20
points. Syretha Marble scored 14 and Whitney Randolph had a
double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Randolph also
had a game high seven steals.
LMU (4-2) was led by Winney's 20 points and nine rebounds.
Megan Davis scored 15 and Stephanie Wagner and Dayshalee Salaman
each added 14 points.
North Georgia returns to action in their Peach Belt Conference
opener, traveling to Francis Marion University on December 15, for
a 5:30 matchup with the Patriots.
