DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College &
State University head women’s basketball coach Buffie Burson
has announced the addition of former standout Lindsey Huffman as the
new assistant coach of the Lady Saints for the 2009-10 season.
“We are thrilled to have Lindsey rejoin our North Georgia Lady Saint's staff and family,” head women’s basketball Buffie Burson said. “Her ability to recruit and develop players will make an immediate impact on our program. She is a great addition to our staff."
Huffman will begin her duties immediately, which consist of recruiting, handling day-to-day operations of the program, and assisting Burson in on-floor coaching responsibilities.
“Having played and coached at North Georgia, Lindsey understands the challenges and expectations of the program,” Burson said.
During her one year playing for the Lady Saints, Huffman ran the point guard position, averaging 7.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per game as North Georgia posted a record of 19-1 in the Peach Belt Conference to claim the regular season championship.
Huffman graduated from North Georgia with a degree in Physical Education and spent two years as a graduate assistant under Burson before spending last season as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program at Roswell High School.
The Lady Saints will open the 2009-10 season with five straight home games, including contests against Newberry, Rollins, and Kentucky Welseyan.
