DAHLONEGA, GA - Janyce Ealey has been named the Moe's Southwest Grill North Georgia Athlete of the Week after leading the women's basketball team to a pair of wins to open the season , the Sports Communications office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
She scored in double figures in all three games to open the year, including 12 points and eight rebounds in the victory over Brevard College in the season opener.
She then tallied 15 points in a loss to Chowan, but rallied the Lady Saints with 21 points off the bench in a 25-point victory at Young Harris.
The Carrollton, Ga., native leads the team at 16.0 points per game, while averaging 5.7 rebounds per contest. She is shooting 42-percent from the field, and connected on 17-21 free throws for 81-percent from the charity stripe.
Ealey and the Lady Saints return to action over the weekend, hosting the Chick-fil-A Tip-Off Classic and welcoming Clayton State, Lynn University, and Chowan to town for the four-game tournament.
North Georgia will oppose Chowan Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., before taking on Lynn University Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the final game of the classic.
