DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia women's basketball head coach Buffie Burson has announced the addition of a new guard for the 2012-13 season during the NCAA's Early Signing Period that started Wednesday morning.
Keeley Chester, a 6-1 guard from Forsyth Central High School will join the Lady Saints next season and will look to step in and be an immediate contributor to the squad.
"We feel very blessed Keeley has chosen North Georgia," head coach Buffie Burson Wednesday afternoon. "She was a highly sought after recruit and we are thrilled she will be wearing the blue and white next season."
Chester has led Forsyth Central to back-to-back State Tournament appearances for the first time in the last 25 years. Last season, she averaged 12 points per game, four rebounds per game, four assists per game and three steals per contest.
The two-time All-County selection has tallied 840 career points and led her AAU Georgia Elite team to a 2010 Final Four appearance at the National Tournament.
"Keeley is a 6'1 combo guard who will fit our system perfectly. She has the ability to score in so many different ways, in addition too, she's a tremendous passer. She will be an exciting player to watch for the next four years!"
Chester won the "Top Dawg" Award at Forsyth Central, and the senior is an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The soon-to-be Lady Saint volunteers her time at the local elementary school assisting academically challenged students.
