PREVIEW: Women's Basketball To Host Northwood (Fla.) In Home Opener
DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia women's basketball team's 2013-2014 home opener is set for this evening at 6:00 against Northwood (Fla.) University in Memorial Hall. Tonight's game will be broadcast over UNG's Nighthawk Vision with live stats and a three-camera live video feed. No audio will be available.
North Georgia (1-0) breezed past Brevard College on Monday in the team's season-opener as Jaymee Carnes registered a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds, both game highs, as she led three Nighthawks in double-figures. Stephanie Huffman and Cierra Jackson added 17 and 11 respectively as the team posted the 26-point non-conference road win.
The Lady Seahawks are 1-1 on the season, coming off their first victory of the season, a 50-42 win over St. Thomas (Texas) last Saturday. Offensively, Northwood is averaging 61.5 points a game, while connecting on 36.2% of their field goals, 18.7% from three-point range, and 66.1% from the foul line. Northwood has been powered by the senior duo of guard Sharnele Brown and forward Erin Riley, who are pacing the Lady Seahawks with a team-high 13.5 points apiece. Riley is adding 10.5 rebounds for a double-double average, while Brown is clearing eight rebounds a game.
