VASS, NC –
The North Georgia women’s golf finished last in a field of
seven teams on Sunday afternoon in the final round of the 2010 St.
Andrews Spring Invitational at the Woodlake Country Club.
Belmont Abbey dominated the event, posting the top six individual
finishers and running away with the team title at 633, 33 strokes
ahead of runner up UNC Pembroke at 666. Mount Olive finished third
with 729 strokes, while the Lady Saints rounded out the field in
seventh at 910.
North Georgia’s Brittany Kemp led the Lady Saints with a 187
to finish 19th overall, posting and opening round of 94, before
coming back with a final round 93.
Charley Whitmire posted an opening round 93, but struggled in the
final round and shot a 108 to place her 28th overall at 201.
Courtney Hall and Ariana Stamatiou rounded out the field in 31st
and 32nd places, shooting 251 and 271 respectively.
The Lady Saints return to action on March 8-9, traveling to the
4th Annual Piedmont College Invitational at The Orchard Golf &
Country Club.
