Women's Golf Takes 13th at Chick-fil-A Invitational
Rome, GA –
The North Georgia women’s golf team finished 13th at the
Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational hosted by Berry College Tuesday
afternoon, firing a final round 434 at the Stonebridge Golf
Club.
Shorter College captured the victory, finishing the event
49-over-par with 624 total strokes, while Lindsey Wilson finish
second at 54-over par, and South Carolina Beaufort was third at
67-over par.
Charley Whitmire and Brittany Kemp shot identical final round
94’s, as Whitmire finished the tournament in 45th place at
184, while Kemp was 51st with 195 total strokes.
Courtney Hall shot an opening round 123, but improved seven shots
in the final round to post a 95-over par 239, good for 58th
overall. Amy Lewis rounded the scoring for the Lady Saints, carding
a 129 in the opening round, before shooting a final-round 130 to
take 60th place overall with a 259.
South Carolina Beaufort’s Adriana Saavedra won the event by a
single stroke over Lindsey Wilson’s Jessica Smith. Saavedra
trailed Smith by two shot after the opening round, but recorded a
two-over par 74 on Tuesday to capture the individual championship.
