Women's Golf Set For Final Round at Stonebridge
ROME, GA –
The North Georgia women’s golf team is looking to move up the
standings Tuesday afternoon at the Chick-fil-A Intercollegiate
Invitational after sitting in 13th place after the first round of
action at the Stonebridge Golf Club.
The Lady Saints fired a 155-over-par 443 Monday afternoon to sit
13th in the field of 13 teams, as Shorter College leads the event
with a 26-over-par 314, followed by Lindsey Wilson College in
second place with 318, and West Georgia in third place with
322.
North Georgia was led by Charley Whitmire who shot 44 on the front
nine and 46 on the back nine to record a 90 and sit in a tie for
47th place overall at the midway point. Brittany Kemp is in 60th
place after shooting a 101, while Courtney Hall and Amy Lewis are
in 71st and 72nd places, recording rounds of 123 and 129
respectively.
Cool windy conditions made scoring tough as the leaders were
unable to break even par. Greta Lange of Shorter College and Callie
Bennett of Berry College lead the field at two-over par at the
midway point of the tournament, firing 74’s to sit atop the
leaderboard of 72 players.
The final round of the 36-hole Chick-fil-A Intercollegiate
Invitational got underway Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
