Lady Saints Host Piedmont in Head-to-Head Event
DAHLONEGA, GA
– The North Georgia women’s golf team went head-to-head
with Piedmont College on Thursday afternoon at Achasta Golf Club,
playing the first home match in program history as the Lions came
out on top in the two-team event.
Piedmont College left town with the victory, firing a 60-over-par
348 to clear North Georgia by nearly 100 shots as the Lady Saints
finished the day at 154-over-par with a 442.
Maria Carter had the low round of the day, recording a
six-over-par 78 to claim first place, while teammate and playing
partner Kayla Banks was the runner-up three shots back with a
nine-over-par 81.
North Georgia’s Brittany Kemp came in third place overall,
firing a 13-over-par 85, her second lowest round of the season, to
lead the team. Charley Whitmire, also playing the final group, shot
a 25-over-par 95 for fifth place overall, while Courtney Hall was
eighth place with a 55-over-par 127.
Ariana Stamatiou and Leana Bulloch rounded out the field in ninth
and 10th place, finishing at 133 and 135 respectively.
North Georgia returns to action on Tuesday April 6, playing host
to Shorter College and the University of Montevallo at Achasta Golf
Club. The Falcons of Montevallo will then stay and play a
head-to-head match against the Lady Saints on Wednesday afternoon
in the team’s final home event of the year.
