Shorter Takes Tri-Match, Lady Saints Finish Third
DAHLONEGA, GA
– The North Georgia women’ golf team hosted their
second match in as many weeks on Tuesday afternoon, finishing third
in a three-way match against Shorter College and the University of
Montevallo at Achasta Golf Club.
Shorter College won the event, shooting a 34-over-par 322 to
capture the title, clearing the University of Montevallo by 36
shots as the Falcons finished runner-up at 70-over-par with 358.
North Georgia rounded out the field in third place, firing a
126-over-par 414, their lowest round in program history.
Montevallo’s Emma Breen ran away with the individual title,
shooting a two-under-par 70 to claim an eight shot victory over
Shorter’s Greta Lange who finished second at
six-over-par.
Shorter College placed all five of their golfers in the top seven
spots to claim the victory, while Montevallo’s Rachel Shaner
was tied for fourth with a nine-over-par 81.
North Georgia’s Brittany Kemp and Charley Whitmire finished
tied for eighth overall at 16-over-par, shooting 88’s to lead
the team, while Leania Bulloch and Courtney Hall were also
deadlocked after the single-round event, finishing tied for 11th at
47-over-par.
The Lady Saints return to action on Wednesday afternoon, as the
University of Montevallo will clash once again with North Georgia,
this time in a head-to-head affair at Achasta Golf Club. Start time
is set for 1:30 p.m.
