COLUMBUS, GA – The North Georgia women's golf team finished the opening round of the play at the Lady Cougar Collegiate Classic and are currently in eighth place in the field of 10 teams heading into Tuesday's final round at the Country Club of Columbus.
North Georgia fired an opening round 68-over-par 356 to sit in eighth place overall. UNC Pembroke, ranked 10th in the latest Golfstat National Poll, leads at the midway point with a 313, while shorter College is second, sitting six strokes off the pace at 319. Tournament host Columbus State is third as after an opening round 330 as they will enter the final round 17 strokes off the lead.
Catalina Olarte put together a 5-over-par 77 on the 5,844-yard par 72 course, putting the sophomore in a tie for 5th place overall. Casey Truelove tallied an opening round 90, while Erica Breeden followed with a 91. Jody Borchert and Daisy Wright rounded out the team with rounds of 98 and 107 respectively to give the Lady Saints a 356 day one total.
The final round is set to tee off on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Country Club of Columbus with players going off on No. 1 and No. 10 for what will be an 18-hole shootout for the Lady Cougar Collegiate Classic Championship.
