Women's Golf Captures 7th Place at Piedmont Invite
CLARKESVILLE, GA – The North Georgia women's golf team held strong in the final round of the Piedmont Spring Invitational on Tuesday afternoon to take seventh place at the Orchard Golf & Country Club.
The Lady Saints put together a final round 362 for a 735 two-day total to take seventh place in the 10-team field. Methodist University ran away with the event, clearing the school's "B" team by 28 strokes for a 632 total.
Young Harris (672) took third place, while host Piedmont College (694) was fourth, and Spartanburg Methodist (704) rounded out the top five.
Methodist University dominated the individual race as well, taking the top three spots, as Paige Caldwell captured a one-shot victory at 10-over-par. Her teammates, Gretchen McLean and Kelsie Carralero took second and third overall for the championship.
Catalina Olarte finished in a tie for 12th place overall, using her final round 82 for a 168 two-day total. Casey Truelove fired a final round 85 to lead the freshman to 25th place overall at 38-over-par.
North Georgia returns to action next week for the Agnes McAmis Memorial Invitational at the Link Hill Country Club.
