Olarte Named All-Tournament As Lady Saints Take 6th

POOLER, GA – The North Georgia women's golf team put a lid on their season on Tuesday afternoon, taking 11th place at the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Championships at Savannah Quarters Country Club.

12th-ranked UNC Pembroke finished the two-day tournament with a 610 total, bettering defending PBC champion Flagler (633) and host Armstrong Atlantic State University (636) to capture the 2011 PBC Women's Golf Championship. Columbus State (641) finished fourth, followed by Montevallo (662) and North Georgia (723).

UNC Pembroke placed three players on the All-Tournament team, including individual champion Katja Dammann, who went wire-to-wire to win by six strokes after an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish with a one-over-par 145 total. Meghan Moore (155) and Shauna Walor (155) also were named to the team for tying for fourth.

Columbus State's Kimesha Anthony finished second after a 76 on Tuesday to wind up with a 151 total, while Rebecca Goldman finished third after a 77 on Tuesday, collecting a 153 total for the host Lady Pirates. Marissa Marinan of Flagler and North Georgia's Catalina Olarte were the other members of the All-Tournament team, each tying for fourth with 155 scores. Olarte put together the best round in North Georgia program history on Tuesday, as the sophomore was nearly flawless with a birdie and three bogies to finish with a final round 3-over-par 74.

The remaining four golfers for the Lady Saints rounded out the field, as Casey Truelove and Erica Breeden finished tied for 27th place overall at 38-over-par for the Championship, while Jodie Borchert and Daisy Wright were at 60-over-par and 84-over-par respectively for the event.

The Peach Belt Conference Championships put a lid on North Georgia's season for the second straight year, as the Lady Saints competed in 11 tournaments and posted nine top-10 finishes during the 2010-11 season.
