Olarte Finishes Sixth, Women’s Golf Wraps up Montevallo Invitational Fifth

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The North Georgia College & State University women's golf team wrapped up their time in the Montevallo/Full Moon BBQ Invitational in fifth place of the eight teams that participated. The Saints carded a team score of 323.

Fellow Peach Belt Conference school Lander University claimed the team title in the event with a score of 610 while Columbus State finished second just four shots back. The Cougars' Kimesha Anthony was the individual medalist with a two over par 146 through the two rounds.

For North Georgia, senior Catalina Olarte led the way with a total stroke count of 154 (75, 79) to leave her sixth. Casey Truelove held steady on day-two to post her second 80 of the tournament putting her in a tie for 15th with a 160.

Sophomore Abbey Gill finished one stroke behind Truelove (79, 82) in a tie for 19th place while LeeAnn Noble (167) and Bridget Sandy (172) ended up tied for 32nd and tied for 37th respectively.

The women will have close to two weeks to prepare for their next tournament, the Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational, held at the Old South Golf Links in Hilton Head, S.C. The tournament will run from Saturday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Sept. 30.
