PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The University of North Georgia women's golf team wrapped up its time in the 2013 Peach Belt Conference Golf Championships with a two-round score of 676 to finish seventh at the tournament hosted by Columbus State University at Callaway Gardens.
Lander University claimed the team crown by nine strokes over Armstrong Atlantic State University. The Bearcats, led by second-place finisher Teresa Hernani, ended their time in Pine Mountain, Ga. with a team score of 611 while the Pirates finished the two-day event with a combined stroke count of 620. Flagler College finished third as a team with a 623.
The University of North Carolina Pembroke, which entered the final round in third, featured the individual winner in Meghan Moore who carded a second-round 75. When coupled with her opening-round 72, she wrapped things up with a 147. Moore was in a tie with Hernani following the opening round, but Hernani finished a stroke back in the second round to fall to second with a 148.
Senior Catalina Olarte, who ends her career at North Georgia as the first two-time All-PBC selection in the program's history, ended the weekend in a tie for 15th. She carded an 81 in Sunday's round to finish with a 160 when coupled with her opening 79.
Casey Truelove finished second on the team and tied for 27th overall as she carded a two-round 170 (84, 86) and Mariana Pelaez finished tied for 29th with a two-day 171 (86, 85). Abbey Gill rounded out the scoring quartet for the Saints as she finished 31st with a two-round 175 after shaving seven strokes off her opening round to give her an 84 in the second round.
