Women's Golf Team Moves Up One Spot At Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational
HILTON HEAD, South Carolina – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia women's golf team moved up one spot to finish 15th out of 18 teams at the Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational held at the par-72, 5,864-yard, Old South Golf Course. UNG fired a final round 327 anchored by a 79 (+7) by Abbey Gill.
Flagler earned team honors after registering a 294-301—595. Alazne Urizar of SCAD-Savannah was crowned medalist after carding a three under 72-69—141 highlighted by sub-par final round.
Carrilee Hiers earned a top-50 finish in the 88-golfer field as she posted a 79-82—161. Taylor Allen (80-83—163) and Gill) 84=79—163) finished with identical scores of 163 which placed the duo in a tie for 54th. Casey Truelove capped the Nighthawks' scoring with a final round 83 which was five shots better than her opening round 88.
North Georgia (330-327—657) finished four strokes ahead of Coker after trailing the Cobras by a single shot at the midway point. UNG also outpaced Young Harris (373-372—745) and Eckerd (374-382—756).
UNG returns to action on October 21-22 when the team makes the trek to Dade City, Fla. to take part in Saint Leo's Fall Invitational.
