Lady Saints return home Saturday for senior
day
MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – North Georgia College
& State University fought the Bobcats of Georgia College to a
scoreless halftime battle, but fell 4-0 on the road Wednesday
evening.
Much of the game was controlled by the Bobcats, taking a 27-4 shot
advantage over the Lady Saints, but NGCSU goalkeeper Jessica
English proved to be a wall in the first half, making a couple
diving saves among her three stops.
Jeni Day broke the scoreless tie just over 10 minutes into the
second period, as senior Emily Norris set her up with a great cross
from the left side. Day tacked on her second just over 10 minutes
later, when freshman Kayla Emerson found her on the left side this
time. Rookie Kelli McLane also assisted on the play.
GCSU wasted little time adding to the 2-0 lead as just 51 seconds
later, sophomore Erika Kolodin tallied her first career goal with
help from Kayla Emerson and sister Britni Emerson. Junior Hayley
Ferrell capped the scoring at 73:50 on a brilliant pass from
McLane, Ferrell’s team-leading 16th of the season.
English made four total saves in 11 tries in the loss, while
freshman Mary Rob Plunkett made a pair of first-half saves in the
win.
Of the Saints’ four shots, leading-scorer Lauren Schenk led
with two.
North Georgia will wrap up the regular season at home against
Georgia Southwestern State University Saturday at 1 p.m. North
Georgia will honor Brittany Bruner and Kelly Orear as they play
their last home game for the Lady Saints.
