Lady Saints drop 5-4 shootout in overtime to Armstrong Atlantic
Lauren Schenk scores pair of goals for North

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State
University got a goal from Lauren Schenk in each half, but fell in
overtime 5-4 to Armstrong Atlantic here Saturday evening.
The scoring started and often as Lauren Cappy put the Lady Saints
on the board first with goal off a pass from Casey Smith in the
third minute of the contest.
The Pirates came right back in the seventh minute and tied the game
on a Lyndsi Stricklen goal off a pass from Jamie Craine. The game
would not be tied for long as Brittany Carr slid a shot past a
diving Jessica English in the eighth minute to give Armstrong a 2-1
advantage.
Schank made sure to tie the game up again as she eluded several
defenders and put the ball inside the left post in the 12th minute
to make it a 2-2 contest.
Armstrong took the lead once again in the 13th minute of the seesaw
affair as Alyssa Anderson scored unassisted for a 3-2 lead.
North Georgia's Casey Smith tied the game once again just before
the half on a penalty that she sent just out of reach of the diving
Tracey Mitchell for a 3-3 tie at the half.
Just eight minutes into the second period in the 53rd minute
Kristin Savoy took a pass from Stricklen and sent it past English
for a 4-3 lead. The lead would be short lived however as Schenk
scored her second goal of the game in the 59th minute to make it a
4-4 game.
The tie game went to overtime where in the 5th minute Jamie Craine
sent a ball just over the finger tips of a leaping English to end
the game in a 5-4 Piretes victory.
Mitchell recorded three saves on the day for Armstrong Atlantic,
while English made seven saves for the Lady Saints.
North Georgia will be back in action on the road Wednesday October
24, as they travel to Milledgeville, Ga to take on GCSU at 7:00
p.m.
