DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College
& State University scored seven goals in the first half and ran
away with a 10-0 win over Georgia Southwestern here Saturday
evening. Brittany Bruner and Kelly Orear were honored during their
last home game for the Lady Saints.
North Georgia got on the board first in the 18th minute when Orear
sent a cross into the middle that was deflected by Lauren Schenk
directly to Lauren Cappy who placed a shot in the back of the net
for a 1-0 lead.
In the 20th minute the Lady Saints got right back on the board when
Cappy put a ball in he middle and Schenk placed it past Hurricanes
goalkeeper Christy Drabek for her 11th goal of the season and a 2-0
North Georgia lead.
In the 30th minute Sara Kate Rogers got in on the scoring as she
dribbled past several defenders and scored her first goal of the
year.
Less than a minute later, Katelyn Crane put the ball in goal off a
corner from Casey Smith to give the Lady Saints a 4-0 lead.
Schenk followed in the 34th minute with her second goal of the game
to extend the lead to 5-0.
Katie Turner and Lauren Langford each added a goal in the 41st and
42nd minute to give the Lady Saints a 7-0 halftime lead.
Jesse Hall got the scoring started in the second half with her
first goal of the year, and Orear scored her first goal of the
season in the 61st minute on an assist by Lauren Hughes to make it
a 9-0 game.
Sara Kate Rogers scored her second goal of the game in the 75th
minute to put the Lady Saints in double digits in goals for a 10-0
win.
Jessica English recorded 5 saves on her way to her 7th shutout of
the season, and Drabek recorded nine saves in the loss for the
Hurricanes.
