Dahlonega, GA – North Georgia allowed a
goal in each half, falling 2-0 to 21st-ranked Georgia College
Wednesday evening at the Soccer Complex in Peach Belt Conference
action.
The Bobcats improve to 12-1-3 overall, and 5-1-1 in the Peach Belt
Conference with the victory, while North Georgia falls to 7-6-2
overall and 4-3 in the league. GCSU moves into a tie for second
place in the PBC with the win, while North Georgia will hang on to
fourth place with the defeat.
GCSU picked up the lone goal of the first half in the 21st minute
as Hayley Farrell took a pass from Ally Treat and sent a liner
inside the left post for a 1-0 lead. The Lady Saints tallied four
shots in the first half, while the Bobcats managed two.
The second period was nearly a repeat of the opening half as the
Bobcats picked up a goal in the 52nd minute. Megan McAlpin tallied
the goal on a double assist from Hayley Farrell and Lyric
Burnett.
North Georgia would once again outshoot GCSU, recording seven
shots to just three for the Bobcats. Mary Rob Plunkett tallied
seven saves for GCSU, while Jessica English recorded three saves
and allowed both goals for North Georgia.
North Georgia will take on Georgia Southwestern in their regular
season finale, traveling to Americus, Georgia, Saturday afternoon
for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff with the Hurricanes.
