Dahlonega, GA – North Georgia hosted their first PBC Tournament game in school history Tuesday afternoon, falling 2-0 at the hands of Kristin burton and Armstrong Atlantic State University in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

Junior Kristin Burton tallied a pair of goals and the Armstrong Atlantic women's soccer squad withstood a late charge from North Georgia in the 2-0 victory.

The Pirates (11-5-3) advance to the PBC Tournament semifinals on Friday, while North Georgia (8-7-2) sees its season come to an end for the second straight year to the Pirates.

The match was a tight defensive affair with both teams collecting four shots apiece through the first 42 minutes. In the 43rd minute, sophomore Alyssa Anderson assisted on Burton's first goal, beating keeper Jessica English on her first shot taken on the afternoon.

Burton added an insurance goal in the 65th minute, converting off of a pass from Jamie Craine, to put the Pirates up, 2-0.

The Saints put pressure on the Pirates in the final 15 minutes, getting off five shots and forcing AASU keeper Tracey Mitchell to make a pair of saves, but Mitchell kept North Georgia scoreless to record her sixth shutout of the season.

North Georgia finished the match with a 12-8 advantage in shots, while AASU held a slim 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Mitchell made three saves in the match for the Pirates, while English made three saves in net for the Lady Saints.

The Lady Saints will look to rebound next season and make their first appearance in the PBC Tournament “Final Four” as they return all eleven starters from 2008, and graduate just one senior.
