Dahlonega, GA - North Georgia College &
State University picked up a 1-0 victory against the University of
Alabama-Huntsville on Friday evening at the North Georgia Soccer
Complex off Tessa MacGregor's first career goal three minutes into
the second half.
Throughout the first half the game remained scoreless as the Lady
Saints outshot the Crusaders 3-1 in the opening period.
In the second half, the Lady Saints got on the board when Tessa
MacGregor scored on a punt from goalkeeper Jessica English and a
pass from Lauren Schenk. MacGregor then chipped the ball past
the goalkeeper and into an empty net for a 1-0 lead. The Saints
held onto the lone goal of the game and went on to win 1-0.
North Georgia Goalkeeper Jessica English played all 90 minutes and
had 2 saves, while Charger Goalkeeper Bethany Ensley recorded one
save and allowed a goal in 90 minutes.
The stellar Lady Saints defense led by defender Brittany Bauschka
and midfielder Kelly Martin held UAH to just a pair of shots and
only one shot on goal.
The Lady Saints return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm,
hosting the defending National Champions in the University of
Tampa.
