DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College
& State University head women’s soccer coach Chris Adams
has announced the 2009 schedule that features seven regular season
home contests, and a Division I exhibition game at Jacksonville
State University.
“This year's schedule should prove to be challenging,”
head coach Chris Adams said. “With the two new additions of
Montevallo and Flagler the conference should also be deep with
talent.”
Chris Adams’ squad will open the regular season at Tampa
University, a 2008 NCAA Tournament participant, on August 28,
before traveling over to Barry University on August 30 to wrap up a
Florida road trip to start the season.
The Lady Saints will take on the Wolves of West Georgia in one
more road contest before kicking off the home portion of the 2009
season on September 6, and September 9, with games at the Soccer
Complex against Nova Southeastern and Anderson University
respectively.
North Georgia will then open Peach Belt Conference play on
September 12, at USC Aiken as part of four straight road games that
include trips to Belmont Abbey, new league member Montevallo, and
North Alabama.
After a trip to North Alabama, the Lady Saints will close the
season with eight PBC games, with five of those coming at home,
including Flagler and UNC Pembroke to close the regular season.
“Unlike years past, there isn't really a game on the
schedule that you look to as an automatic win,” Adams said.
“I look forward to our team growing from last years schedule
and stepping up to the level of our competition.”
With 17 games on the slate for the 2009 season, the Lady Saints
will have a home-dominated schedule late in the year with four of
the seven home games played in the final two weeks of the
season.
The Lady Saints are coming off a 2008 campaign that saw the squad
finish 8-7-2 overall and 5-3 in the Peach Belt Conference to finish
fourth in the league, the programs highest finish since entering
the NCAA four years ago. North Georgia also hosted their first-ever
NCAA postseason game in 2008, falling 2-0 to Armstrong Atlantic in
the first round of the PBC Tournament.
