DAHLONEGA, GA – The Peach Belt Conference
released the 2009 Women’s Soccer Preseason All-Conference
Team and North Georgia’s Casey Smith was named to the squad
for the second consecutive year.
A two-time Peach Belt All-Conference selection, Casey Smith was
the only player in the Peach Belt Conference to be named PBC
Offensive and Defensive player of the week during the 2008
season.
She tallied four goals and eight assists last season, while her
four goals is a career best as she recorded a hat trick in the
first game of the season. Smith played and started all 17 games for
the Lady Saints last year, tallying one game-winning goal.
The Lady Saints are coming off a season that saw them finish
fourth in the Peach Belt Conference in 2008, their highest finish
since entering the NCAA in 2005. Head coach Chris Adams’
squad posted a record of 8-7-2 overall and 5-3 in the conference to
host their first-ever PBC Tournament game at the Soccer
Complex.
The Lady Saints will take on Jacksonville State University, Tampa
University, Barry University, and the University of West Georgia on
the road to open the season before returning to Dahlonega for one
of just two home games during the month of September.
North Georgia will then open Peach Belt Conference play on
September 12, at USC Aiken as part of four straight road games that
include trips to Belmont Abbey, new league member Montevallo, and
North Alabama.
