DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia women's soccer team broke out offensively Wednesday evening, scoring three goals in each half to run past Young Harris College 6-0 at the Soccer Complex in non-conference action.

The Lady Saints get back in the win column, improving to 2-1 on the season after scoring a season-high six goals to take care of the Mountain Lions who fall to 1-2 on the year.

North Georgia started the scoring at the 11:01 mark as Samantha Abrahart sent a perfect pass into the box for Danielle Brannan who tapped it home for the opening goal.

Just three minutes later, Abrahart was in on the scoring again, this time getting a goal as Lauren Schenk fed Natalie Douglass who in turn found Abrahart for her second goal of the season.

The first-half scoring was capped in the 27th minute when Casey Smith sent a corner into the box, finding the head of Douglass who sent it home for her first goal of the season, making it a 3-0 North Georgia lead heading into halftime.

Caroline Wallace went to work to open the second period, taking a pass from Lauren Schenk and firing a laser shot from out side that box that deflected the goalkeeper's hands and into the back of the net. For Wallace, her second goal of the year gave the Lady Saints a 4-0 advantage.

Abrahart continued to be a factor in the second half, this time in the 80th minute as Whitley Dover found the junior Duluth, Ga., native who deposited her second goal of the game and team-high third of the season.

Douglass was far from finished after he goal and assist in the first half, taking another corner from Smith finding the back of the net one more time to cap the scoring, this time in the 90th minute to send North Georgia home with a 6-0 victory.

Shots were in favor of North Georgia by a 24-7 margin, while the Lady Saints managed 14 corner kicks to zero for the Mountain Lions. Goalkeeper Allie Matulia logged all 90 minutes in goal for YHC, allowing six goals while tallying eight saves. Jessica English and Kirsten Ross split the game in goal, recording one and two saves respectively.

The six goals scored by the Lady Saints is the most by North Georgia since a 6-0 victory against Erskine College over two years ago on the same field. The Lady Saints also notched an 8-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern that same year on the road.

The Lady Saints will now prepare for Saturday's Peach Belt Conference opener against USC Aiken, playing host to the Pacers with a primetime 5:00 p.m. kickoff at the Soccer Complex.
