DAHLONEGA, GA – Following the most successful season in school history in 2010, head women's soccer coach Chris Adams has released full slate of games for the 2011 campaign that features nine homes games.
The Lady Saints will open the year with a pair of exhibition games on the road, traveling to North Carolina to take on NCAA Division I member UNC Greensboro on August 14, before heading to the sunshine state to battle Rollins College on August 20.
North Georgia's regular season opener will also serve as the team's home opener, welcoming Lees-McRae to town on September 2, for a 4:00 p.m. contest against the Bobcats.
The opener is one of eight games during the month of September that features five road games, including key non-conference matchups against Mount Olive, Belmont Abbey and Alabama-Huntsville.
The Lady Saints will open their Peach Belt Conference slate on September 10, making their way to USC Aiken to battle the Pacers, before turning around a week later and welcoming UNC Pembroke to town on September 17.
Eight more games in October will have North Georgia playing on their home field in six of those contests, including four straight PBC games in 10 days to close the season.
Expectations are higher than ever for the Lady Saints, who put together a 14-5-1 record overall and a 7-3 mark in the Peach Belt Conference in 2010. Head coach Chris Adams led North Georgia to their first-ever Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game last season, while also catapulting the Lady Saints to the program's first-ever national ranking.
The Lady Saints set program records in 2010 for most wins with 14, consecutive wins with 11, while also capturing the squad's first-ever postseason victory since entering the NCAA in 2005.
Four of the team's top six goal scorers from last season return this fall, including Natalie Douglass, Emily Dover and Kelsey Martin who all tallied seven goals apiece a year ago. Kirsten Ross is set for her senior year in goal after posting an 8-2 record last fall with a 0.99 goals against average, including three shutouts in 11 starts.
