AUGUSTA, GA – The Peach Belt Conference has announced the 11-member women's soccer preseason All-Conference team as voted on by the league's head coaches on Friday afternoon and North Georgia paced a trio of teams with two members selected to the squad.
Kelsey Martin and Natalie Douglass represented the Lady Saints, one of three schools along with Columbus State and UNC Pembroke to place a pair of players on the all-conference team. Armstrong Atlantic was also in the mix, leading the league with three selections.
Martin picks up preseason Peach Belt All-Conference honors for the second straight year after being named the PBC Freshman of the Year following her first collegiate season in 2009. Last season, she was tied for ninth in the league in scoring with seven goals as the junior returns for her junior season looking to add to her three game-winning goals from a year ago.
Senior midfielder Natalie Douglass started in all 20 games for the Lady Saints and scored seven goals just a year ago, including a score against Armstrong in an upset win in the PBC Tournament semifinals. Douglas added two assists and was tied for ninth in the league in goals scored.
The Lady Saints are set to play their final tune-up of the season on Saturday morning when they take on Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, in what will be an exhibition match between a pair of nationally ranked teams from a year ago.
