DAHLONEGA, GA – The 11th-ranked North Georgia women's soccer team is back in action again this weekend, this time taking on Carson-Newman in a key non-conference matchup at the Soccer Complex.
The Lady Saints return home after three straight road games where they passed each and every test, outscoring the opponent 6-1 to stay unbeaten and move up five spots to the No. 11 team in the country.
With North Georgia setting the bar in the Peach Belt Conference with a 4-0 mark in league action, the Lady Saints hold the regular season title in their hands down the stretch. Six league games remain to determine the champion and seeding for the upcoming conference tournament.

Taking Care of Business – On their way to the No. 11 ranking in the country, the Lady Saints have steamrolled the competition with eight straight wins to start the season. While North Georgia continues to extend the program's best start in school history, they do so in style with four shutouts in the past five games and outscoring their opponents 20-3.
Misleading Statistic – The Eagles have outscored their opponents 21-12 during the 2011 campaign, but are just 3-4 on the year and captured victories in only one of their first three conference games. The goal differential can all be pointed back to the team's opening game of the year when they destroyed Chowan 12-0 with seven second-half goals. Three separate hat tricks led Carson-Newman to their most lopsided win in recent history.
Emily's Excellence – The question that can be asked at this point is, can Emily Dover be stopped? The senior has raced to the team lead in goals and points with her recent surge of seven goals in the last six games. Not only is she pacing North Georgia as of late, but the Canton, Georgia, native is second in the Peach Belt Conference in goals with seven and points with 17, sitting just one score and one point behind Flagler's Loren Kate.
National Leaders – While the Lady Saints have been moving up the rankings and keep an unblemished mark in tact, a trio of individuals are among the nation's leaders in several statistical categories at the Division II level. Kirsten Ross has been on her game in goal, recording five shutouts and sitting 10th in the country in goals against average at 0.37. With Emily Dover's game-winning goal at Clayton State, the senior is now tied for second in the country with four decisive goals. Right behind Dover is fellow forward Kelly Penston who is tied for fourth in the nation with four game-winners.
Howell's House – Trenna Howell has carried Carson-Newman through the first seven games of the season with eight goals and one assist for 17 total points. A First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference performer each of the last two years, the senior has a pair of hat tricks this season with a trio of goals against Chowan and Brevard. The Lady Saints will have to stop the Carson-Newman star to come out on top and stay unbeaten on the year.
Foursome Force – Allowing a Peach Belt Conference best three goals on the year, the North Georgia defense has been the best in the southeast to date this season. Megan Morrow and Melanie Thompson have led the charge in the middle, while Taylor Lee and Emily Bowen have dominated the sides and kept goalkeeper Kirsten Ross out of trouble. Another shutout on Saturday would be just what the doctor ordered heading into a tough stretch of five conference games in 14 days.
