20th-Ranked Saints Defeat Florida Southern 1-0
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Senior Abby Trevino took just one shot Friday afternoon, but that was all she needed as her game-winner lifted the North Georgia College & State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Florida Southern College at Brosnaham Park in the West Florida Tournament.
The Saints' third shutout victory of the early season gives them a 4-0 record while the Maccasins move to 0-2-1.
Trevino netted her fourth goal of the season in the 79th minute of regulation off an assist from Caroline Wallace. The assist was the third of the year for Wallace.
Following Trevino's goal, Florida Southern was able to get two more shots off in an attempt to avoid the loss, but neither found their mark as the first went high and the second wide right.
The Saints narrowly out-shot the Mocs 15-14 with freshman goalkeeper Mallory Sayre playing all 90 minutes between the pipes while making six saves. FSC's Erin Moseley was forced to make five saves as both teams had six shots on goal in the game.
North Georgia will have a day to prepare for their next match-up which will put them up against the 16th-ranked team in the nation, Rollins. The game is set for 1:30 p.m. Eastern time at Brosnaham Park.
