Penston, Taliaferro Recognized with All-PBC Honors
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Friday afternoon marked the annual Peach Belt Conference men's and women's awards banquet held at the Belair Conference Center and North Georgia College & State University women's soccer midfielders Kelly Penston and Cicely Taliaferro were named to the All-PBC First and Second Teams.
A junior midfielder from Suwanee, Ga., Penston has started in all but one of the Saints' 19 games this season and currently leads the team with 11 goals, including one game-winner, heading into Friday evening's semifinal bout. She also has four assists to her credit, giving her 26 points.
Penston's 11 goals and 26 points both rank fourth in the conference. Penston was also a preseason All-PBC selection.
Taliaferro is a sophomore midfielder from Marietta who has started all 19 games this season for North Georgia. For the season, she has recorded eight goals, one of which was a game-winner, and four assists for 20 total points.
Her eight goals entering Friday is good enough for 12th in the league while her 20 points places her 11th.
UNC Pembroke's Rae-Shawna Campbell and the University of Montevallo's Jade Pennock were named the Co-Freshmen of the Year while Morgan Mitchell from Armstrong Atlantic State University was tabbed the league's Player of the Year. The Co-Coaches of the Year were Chris Ayer from Lander University and Eric Faulconer of Armstrong.

The Saints will take on No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic State at the Blanchard Woods Park tonight in their semifinal bout. The game will kick off at 5 p.m.
North Georgia is looking to advance to the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row and a win Friday night would go a long way to helping that cause.
