Martin, Penston Named to Peach Belt Preseason All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference office announced Friday the 11-member women's soccer preseason All-Conference team with North Georgia College & State women's soccer players Kelsey Martin and Kelly Penston appearing on the list. The team was voted on by the league coaches.

During last season's breakout performance, Penston and Martin each played pivotal roles in the Saints finishing with a program-best 16 wins en route to the team's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament.

A junior forward from Suwanee, Ga., Penston was second on the team last year with six goals scored including three game-winners. She was named an All-Conference first team selection and also earned All-Region honors.

Martin, a senior from Dallas, Ga., played in the first 17 games of the season before going down for the final three games with an injury. The 2009 PBC Freshman-of-the-Year scored three goals, all game-winners, in 2011 and finished the season third in the league with seven assists.

Last season's regular-season champions, Armstrong Atlantic State led the way with three players named to the preseason All-Conference team while Columbus State and UNC Pembroke joined North Georgia with two selections. Lander and Flagler rounded out those represented with one member each on the squad.
