UNG Women's Soccer Team Adds Three On National Signing Day
DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAtletics.com) – The University of North Georgia women's soccer program has announced the signing of three high school players to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2014 season. Brynn Finneran (Greater Atlanta Christian), Kristen Lagasse (Roswell) and Jessica Vaverka (Buford) have each inked to become a Nighthawk.
"I am very excited to add three very talented and athletic players to our program," stated head coach Chris Adams. "They have the ability to make us better instantly and are also very intelligent student-athletes. Albeit a small class it definitely meets our needs and we are very proud to call Brynn Finneran, Kristen Lagasse, and Jessi Vaverka Nighthawks!"
Finneran competed four years for Greater Atlanta Christian where the team posted state runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2013 sandwiched around a State Championship in 2012. Finneran serves as captain of the high school team during her senior year. She is a member of the Olympic Development Program and plays in the Elite Club National League as a midfielder.
She is the daughter of Erin and Brian Finneran and has plans to major in Business Management.
Lagasse is the captain at Roswell after having being named the program's Most Valuable Player last season. She played her club soccer with Tophat and Norcross Academy.
She is the daughter of Susan and Dennis Lagasse and intends on majoring in nursing.
Vaverka is a 4-year captain for Buford HS and lead the team to back-to-back Final Fours in 2012 and 2013. TopDrawerSoccer.com rates Vaverka as a 4-Star prospect and ranked as the 36th best player in the Southeast region.
She is the daughter of Lauren and Steve Vaverka and intends to major in Exercise Science.
The UNG women's soccer program has earned a NCAA Division II top-25 national ranking in each of the past three seasons and has made consecutive NCAA National Tournament appearances in 2011 and 2012.
