Chris Adams is in his ninth season at the helm of the women's soccer program at North Georgia College & State University in 2011-12. He is the third head coach in the program's 10-year history and has accumulated an overall record of 70-62-13 for a .530 winning percentage.
The 2010 season proved to be the best in program history, as the Lady Saints cracked the top 25 for two straight weeks, and advanced to the Peach Belt Conference tournament championship game. The Lady Saints set program records in 2010 for most wins with 14, and consecutive wins with 11, while also capturing the first-ever postseason victory since entering the NCAA in 2005.
In 2009, the Lady Saints finished 10-5-2 overall, sending Adams to earn Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year honors in the league. North Georgia picked up the most notable victory in program history last year, knocking off 3rd-ranked Columbus State University on the road to send CSU to their first conference loss in over four years and breaking the Cougars' 36-game winning streak in league action.
In 2008, Adams' squad finished 8-7-2 overall and 5-3 in the Peach Belt Conference to finish fourth in the league, the programs highest finish since entering the NCAA four years ago. North Georgia also hosted their first-ever NCAA postseason game in 2008, falling 2-0 to Armstrong Atlantic in the first round of the PBC Tournament.
In 2007, Adams' team finished with a record of 7-9-1 and a birth in the Peach Belt Conference tournament.
In 2006, just their second season of competition at the NCAA Division II level, Adams led the Lady Saints to an 8-8-2 record and a sixth-place finish in the conference race. The Lady Saints also placed three players on the All-Conference team, the most in the program's history.
Adams led the Lady Saints to their first-ever victory as a member of the NCAA Division II, when they defeated Georgia Southwestern 7-0 on October 5, 2005. He later led the Lady Saints to their first-ever Peach Belt Conference victory, defeating the University of South Carolina-Aiken 3-1 on October 15, 2005.
Adams joined the coaching staff as the head men's and women's soccer coach in 2003. In two seasons at the helm of the men's program, Adams led North Georgia to a 19-17-2 mark and was named the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Coach of the Year in 2004. He led the Saints to a third place finish in the conference and their first NAIA Regional Tournament appearance in the program's history. As the head women's soccer coach, Adams guided the team to a 12-8-2 record in 2004 and a fourth place finish in the Southern States Athletic Conference, with a 7-4-0 record.
Adams began his coaching career in 1995 while an undergraduate at the University of Georgia (UGA), where he helped build the first women's soccer team. In the first year of competition, the Lady Bulldogs went 10-5-3 overall and posted a 3-3-2 mark in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In his three seasons with Georgia, the Lady Bulldogs compiled a 39-19-4 overall record and a 14-8-2 record in SEC play.
Following graduation, Adams took a job at NCAA Division I Jacksonville State University (AL) as the head assistant coach. He returned to his hometown of Athens in 1999 to manage the soccer program at the YWCO. After directing the program for two years, Adams began teaching at Clarke Central High School in Athens, where he coached the boy's and girl's soccer teams, and taught health and physical education.
Adams received a B.S. degree, from the University of Georgia in 1998, in Physical Education and Health with a Coaching emphasis. He also recently completed his Master's degree in Physical Eduation and Health right here at North Georgia & State University.
Coach Adams holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National "A" License, a USSF National Youth License, and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Advanced National License.
