Brevard, NC – The North Georgia College
& State University women’s tennis team competed at the
Brevard Mountain Invitation over the weekend as the Lady Saints
sent four players into action.
The Tournament, hostest by Brevard College consisted of
Carson-Newman, Pfeiffer University, Brevard College, Georgia
Southern, West Virginia, and North Georgia.
The Lady Saints started in doubles action as Maria Dreaden and
Velina Boteva advanced to the semifinals of the B Flight back draw
before falling 8-1 to Georgia Southern.
Meredith Cash and Ashley Jordan competed in the C Flight and found
themselves in the back draw finals before falling 8-4 to
Carson-Newman.
In singles action, Dreaden and Boteva advanced to the second round
of the B Flight back draw, before falling to Carson-Newman and West
Virginia respectively. Jordan advanced to the C Flight back draw
semi finals in the top part of the bracket before falling to Cassie
Moulton of Carson-Newman, while Cash advanced to the finals through
the bottom of the bracket before falling 6-1, 0-6 (10-7) to Moulton
in the championship.
