Lady Saints Fall to Tornadoes 5-4 in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The North Georgia women's tennis team opened their spring break trip with a tough 5-4 defeat at the hands of Brevard College on Saturday morning at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Complex in non-conference action.

The Lady Saints drop the first of three straight matches in Hilton Head, falling to 5-6 on the season, while Brevard improves to 5-6 on the year.

North Georgia pulled out one point during doubles action, as Stasa Vujosevic and Laura Chapman combined to edge Claire Dillman and Lindsay Hostetter 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.

The Lady Saints would dominate No. 1 and No. 2 singles as Chapman took a three-set thriller 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 at No 1., while Vujosevic cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2.

Audrey Marlette also came out on top of another three-set marathon, dropping the opening set 6-2, before rallying 6-4, 10-8 to give North Georgia a split in singles play, but the Lady Saints came up short, falling 5-4 to the Tornadoes to open the spring break classic.

The Lady Saints will have Sunday off before taking on Shawnee State on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. North Georgia will then wrap up the four-day trip on Tuesday against Missouri Valley at 12:30 p.m.
